There are some people that will turn to diet pills straight away after making the decision to try and lose weight. However a fair percentage of people turn to weight loss pills as a last resort because they have tried everything else, and have not yet had any success.

I don’t, however, think this is the right approach to take because these supplements should not be seen as a last resort. Although you may end up losing a pound or two at this last and final stage of your weight loss journey, you will probably have more success if you use these pills as part of a well constructed, multi-faceted weight loss strategy.

Many people will try doing one specific thing in order to try and lose weight, whether it’s eating a low calorie diet, cutting out junk food and alcohol, or doing lots of exercise, for example. However you want to be doing several of these things at the same time in order to maximise your chances of losing weight.

So for example you want to eat no more than around 1500 calories per day, which is easily possible if you eat lots of fruit and vegetables, you want to do lots of exercise, and you want to try and be more active generally so that you are burning a few more calories.

This should help you start losing a few pounds right away, and once you are on your way, you can then think about adding a daily diet pill to your weight loss plan as well in order to help you lose even more weight.

This is a much better approach and it should help you lose a few more pounds because of the unique benefits offered by some of these weight loss pills. For instance a lot of these supplements act as appetite suppressants, which helps you stick to a low calorie diet, and many of them will also increase your metabolism and help burn fat at the same time, particularly when you exercise.

Therefore it is easy to see why people who put in the most effort and combine these pills with a low calorie diet and plenty of exercise, tend to have the most success. If you just find yourself giving up and turning to weight loss supplements in one last act of desperation, then you are unlikely to lose any weight at all, unfortunately.

Remember it is always diet and exercise that will help you lose weight, and supplements should do exactly what their name suggests – supplement your existing efforts to lose weight (rather than act as an alternative).
